What companies we like
We are sector agnostic, but founder specific. We look for founders with deep industry experience and some early form of commercial validation. We invest across verticals and have backed 30+ companies all over EMEA building solutions for recycling, timber, automotive and shipping industry - among many others.
Our thesis spans across many industries, with our sweetspot sitting around recommerce models: businesses that increase the lifetime value of goods through recycling, reuse, repurpose or refurbishment. We also like companies that leverage network effects as an organic growth and defensibility lever, preferably in heavily underdigitized industries. We tend to strongly favour B2B-facing business models over consumer propositions.

FAQ
How does DFF work together with its portfolio companies?
We’ll make sure that nothing stands in the way of your next round. That means that we are very hands-on and operationally involved to make sure you get from 0 to 1 without too many bumps. Early-stage venture is hard, we try to make it a little less so. We take board seats in a stage where it makes sense and are always on speed dial for the founders we partner with. Even if we are not a good fit, we will always strive to make meaningful connections with investors who might be.
In what geographic areas does DFF invest?
We invest across Europe, the UK, and the MENA region, and we also work with founders headquartered elsewhere whose operations are in the EU or MENA.
Does DFF lead rounds?
Yes, but we can also co-lead.
At what stage does DFF typically invest?
DFF invests in pre-seed and seed-stage companies. We incubate or back companies in the ideation stage opportunistically.
What is DFF's average ticketsize?
We typically get involved with tickets starting as early as €250k up to €3m. Often, we're the first institutional VC on your captable, frequently investing alongside angels. We partner with a select group of entrepreneurs each year, which means that we always look for meaningful ownership stakes.
What does the process post first call with DFF look like?
We move as quickly as you do. After our first call, we will always try our very best to get back to you as soon as possible, as we understand the importance of keeping pace in the process. A quick but candid “no” is generally better for everyone involved. If we think we might be a good match, we generally involve another member of the deal team. Please note that VCs are often more wrong than right, so if we are not a good match, someone else might!
How and where can I send my pitch to?
No need. We will make sure we find you!
Are DFF and Dutch Founders Fund the same fund?
Yes, but we officially changed our name to DFF. No, we do not exclusively employ Dutch speaking people, nor do we only invest in NL or are linked to Dutch government
